The bird and insect observation project

Ceremonial launch of the bird and insect observation project as part of citizen science!

Soon we will see the initiation of activities as part of the project ‘Observation of birds in nesting boxes created using deep learning algorithms’, which is one of the initiatives implemented in our region using the citizen science method. We invite you to the official launch of the initiative, which will take place on 22 November at 10.00–11.30 a.m. at the Municipal Centre for Culture, Sports and Recreation in Kuźnia Raciborska (ul. Klasztorna 9).

During the ceremony, we will learn about the goals and assumptions of the project, watch presentations by ‘Local patrons of the project’ on the benefits of setting up nesting boxes and their experiences with bird watching, learn more about the method of direct observation by a camera via a direct stream, and take a closer look at the website Okiem w Budce (Eye in the Box) as well as the projects ‘Świadomi Klimatu Działamy na Rzecz

Przyszłości’ (‘Climate Conscious, We Work for the Future’), ‘Od Przyczyn do Rozwiązań – Klimatyczna Układanka’ (‘From Causes to Solutions – Climate Puzzle’) and ‘Mozaika Klimatyczna’ (‘Climate Mosaic’) workshops. The event will culminate with a walk to the Jan Wawrzynek Primary School in Kuźnia Raciborska (ul. Piaskowa 28), where the bird nesting boxes have been installed.

The ceremony will be attended by: Kinga Apollo (Director of the Municipal Centre for Culture, Sports and Recreation in Kuźnia Raciborska), Wojciech Gdesza (Mayor of Kuźnia Raciborska), Henryk Kretek, PhD and Michał Staniszewski, PhD Eng. (Silesian University of Technology, project coordinators), Józef Banaś and Marcin Absalon (‘Local patrons of the project’), as well as Joanna Kruszewska and Aleksandra Dik (along with Henryk Kretek: EkoTrio Kuźnia Raciborska – Green leaders of the Sendzimir Foundation).

We encourage you to attend the official launch and get involved in the project!
